DPC launches Rapid Assessment Model (DPC RAM)

简介: The Digital Preservation Coalition has launched its new maturity model, the?DPC Rapid Assessment Model, at iPRES2019 in Amsterdam.Designed to enable rapid benchmarking of an organization’s digital preservation capability, the DPC RAM is a digital preservation maturity modelling tool which aims to be applicable for organizations of any size in any sector, and for all content of long-term value. Developed in conjunction with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority in the UK, and based on existing good practice, it is preservation strategy and solution agnostic, simple to understand and quick to apply.

Webinar: DMPonline - new directions

简介: In Spring we launched the new DMPRoadmap platform with our colleagues at the California Digital Library. This was a major upgrade to the codebase and incorporated a redesign of the front end and underlying data model. Performance improvements and a number of new features were also added. We have?continued to add more features over Summer and Autumn, particularly for administrative users and will demo these. The webinar will also cover the new subscription model and some of the most Frequently Asked Questions emerging about the contract and service delivery.

Guidelines: Audio Digitization System Performance

简介: The FADGI Audio-Visual Working Group has approved a set of guidelines for low cost testing of audio analog-to-digital converters as part of its ongoing program to test performance of ADC devices. To faciliate this work, AVP on behalf of FADGI developed the ADCTest open source software application to automate testing protocols to comply with the low cost guidelines. A revised version of ADCTest was released in March 2019.

Data Type Model and Registry

简介: The RDA Data Type Registries (DTR) Working Group (WG) was approved at the first RDA Plenary (March 2013, Gothenburg, Sweden). The basic goal of this group was to aid data sharing efforts through improved data typing, specifically to make clear the details and assumptions buried in other peoples’ data. This was seen primarily as a problem in defining a data model appropriate to a wide potential collection of data types, prototyping that model in a registry, and developing a federation strategy across multiple registry instances, all following an analysis of use cases and related efforts. The output ensures data producers classify their data sets in standard data types, allowing data users to automatically identify instruments to process and visualise the data.

Creating a holdings format profile and format matrix for risk-based digital preservation planning at the national archives and records administration

简介: This paper will review the process for the creation of an electronic record holdings format profile and the identification of risk assumptions that lead to the development of a format risk analysis and preservation prioritization instrument. One of the greatest challenge for any archive is the multiplicity of file formats, some of which may be decades old. For the United States National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), with several decades of history accessioning and managing electronic records, this is compounded. NARA required a methodology to analyze and visualize what it has in its holdings in order to understand risk, and elected to undertake a file format profile and risk analysis of its born-digital electronic records.
